I've missed you. I think we've been apart for too long. What's that? Who was that other blog? Oh, nobody, just a friend. I was just reading it, I promise. Can you ever forgive me? Cool. Then lets get down to business.
Good weekend in Florida. I liked the bats, especially Jose Guillen's, really coming alive. Bannister struggled a little bit on Saturday, but I think Hillman left him out there too long. Yes, hindsight is 20/20, but I was upset with the move before Banny even threw one pitch in the 7th. That's ok, though. Good teams win two out of three on the road and the Royals were playing like a very good team and even got themselves just one game under .500 for their best record at this point in the year since that magical season, 2003.
No no no says Jon Lester. We all know it. I'll say it once. We got no hit. Lester was dominant and a dominant start plus an anemic offense equals Monday. It was bad, but it was very cool to watch. Congrats to Lester.
Pitching a Masterson-piece. Shut down again by a young pitcher was pretty disappointing, but not as disappointing as the 8th against Okajima. Masterson was good, not great. His command was spotty, but his stuff was excellent. The Royals, aside from Alex Gordon, just couldn't do anything against him, and that's why they only scored one run in 6.1 innings against him. The 8th was where the Royals really lost the game. Runner on 3rd, one out and nobody can get him home. Good ABs by Gordon and Teahen to work walks, but Butler was blown away by Papelbon. Meche, on the other hand, was absolutly fantastic last night with the exception of one hiccup in the 2nd which cost the team the game. I'll take his line from last night every single game he pitches and be satisfied with the result most of the time.
I'm working on a hopefully debate-heavy piece that is about all of MLB. I'm not sure when it'll be ready, but it'll be a large, large document. You'll enjoy it. I promise. Have I lied to you before? Don't answer that.
